§01 - Role-Play Rules

I. Establish and remain in a proper distinct character, to include all name/description guidelines. Inappropriate, lore breaking or low effort names / descriptions are not allowed and will be subject to discipline. Staff may utilize discretion to block, restrict or otherwise prohibit the use of names that are deemed in violation, made in bad faith or otherwise 'gag' or divisive name. Descriptions must only contain physically observed traits and such traits must be realistic.
II. Remain in character. While playing every situation should be properly roleplayed out, mistakes happen in real life so its okay to RP a mistake that was made. PM's may only be in character if it is roleplayed out as a phone call using /me commands from a phonebooth or desk phone. If you must break character to discuss a matter use OOC/LOOC/PM/Discord. Discord Direct Messages are ALWAYS considered OOC. Please view background to RP if you have questions about the setting.
III. No Mass Deathmatching: Do not kill lots of players in a short period of time. Repeated RDM of the same player(s) is also not acceptable.
IV. Roleplay Transactions are not protected. You can be scammed or robbed just like in real life. Be careful who you do business with, roleplay it out by calling the police or take justice into your own hands.
V. Do not attempt to start a full out revolt against Big Brother. In order to revolt against the party your character needs to have read the Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism an in-game book item that inspires rebellion and must have gone undetected without being brainwashed to forget it. Criminal acts are acceptable, however, opposition to Oceania, the government or armed acts targeting uniformed members of the MiniLuv require character development of being exposed to the mentioned book.
VI. New Life Rule: Our server explicitly prohibits revenge killings or acts. When you die, your character will be unplayable/unavailable pending deletion. Any type of 'revive' shall count as a medical revival in which the character will maintain the same general back story BUT will have amnesia of all wrongs done to them. It is also forbidden to use alt characters to exact revenge or visit the area of death unless called there by a third party in a role-play sense.
VII. No Metagaming: Metagaming is the using of information that is made available by the game that would not be available in the RP context. This includes but not limited to: scoreboard information, out of character chats and other information and private messages.
VIII. Attempt to avoid resorting to violence for every occasion: Roleplay situations out without immediately turning to violence: i.e traffic stops, initial trespassing, minor accidents and mistakes. Many things would not realistically escalate to guns or a brawl to the death, jumping immediately to violence destroys RP potential.
IX. Do NOT make unrealistic or excessive demands. Mugging / robbery must not take excessive amounts of money nor make unrealistic demands. This includes cash demands that exceed $1,000 for each robbery (Taking items of greater value is permitted.) It is forbidden to kill an individual who is cooperating.
X. No "PATTERN" behaviors. All characters created should be unique, do not attempt to power game or have a consistent strategy, approach, persona or otherwise repetitious behaviors that are within a player's control such attitudes towards death, money, law, foods et cetera..
XI. Maintain Proper RP All scenarios should be roleplayed out, leaving or abandoning a situation is forbidden. Blatant disregard for other people's roleplay experiences and the server overall is forbidden.
§02 - Basic Server Rules
I. DO NOT apply other community and server’s rules and roleplay concepts to our server. Every server has different definitions of rdm, metagaming, new life rule et cetera.
II. Do not abuse out of character chat. Be respectful to everyone on the server while OOC to include avoiding targeted insults and excessive obscenities. In-character interactions are exempt from this unless it overly targets a specific player and create a hostile toxic atmosphere. This is extended to community spaces like discord.
III. Do not exploit or utilize any glitches in the game to gain advantage or otherwise alter gameplay. Report them. Those who report glitches may receive a show of gratitude and or compensation.
IV. Do not advertise other servers & communities.
V. Do not attempt to compromise the security or the integrity of the server OR attempt to disrupt gameplay.
VI. Never impersonate any of the staff nor members.
VII. Nothing that violates GMOD TOS to include Erotic Roleplay. No player should be excessively sexual or graphically obedience in chat messages or voice chat. This server is for proper roleplay not erotica.
§03 - Enforcement of Rules
Enforcement of the rules and server violation must be done within the confines of an offense matching a specific rule violation. There are no exceptions or immunity granted for violations. VIP/Donors/Community Supporters and staff are subject to enforcement just as any other member should there be a violation that warrants corrective action. Progressive discipline is encouraged to include issuance of warnings when possible, but, in cases where conduct is disruptive or egregious enough direct bans may be issued without warning.
§06 - Use of logs
Server logs are useful tools for the Administration of OrwellRP to investigate claims and review potential issues. The Administration of the OrwellRP reserves the right to introduce these logs as evidence to support and rule violation claim. These logs are stored record of everything that has transpired on the server. The Administration may also selectively review the logs from time to time to ensure general compliance to established rules and policy. Big Brother is always watching.
§07 - Acknowledgement
OrwellRP [Orwell Roleplay] provides a game server at 193.243.190.4:27038 as a free and public service to any player who wishes to join. This usage is entirely dependent on compliance with the following rules which shall be publicly displayed in the main menu upon first joining. Server staff as defined by our policy on staff shall be responsible for the oversight and the administration of these rules and shall be considered designee’s of Management.
By playing on the game-server the user acknowledges and accepts all rules established herein. These rules may be updated at any time without notice, although reasonable efforts shall be made to provide notice.
